The Misfits - Dig Up Her Bones

"Anyplace is where she'll be. Anyplace, she'll see you from.
Lies and secrets become your world. Any time, anywhere,
she takes me away."

Don't let the band's image or lyrics scare you away from their music. You don't have to embrace a band's image or ideology to enjoy the music they create. No one looks at me and thinks 'Misfits,' and rightfully so. I wouldn't go so far as to say I'm an equal opportunity listener but I'm definitely a musical omnivore. I shrug off whatever criticism people say about the music I listen to but there's a tendency to define people - and apply at least a superficial degree of judgement on them - based on their musical tastes. Even I do this (hipsters.. ::headshake::) but I'm getting better at not doing it. If you don't like this song now, you'll be looking for it in late October..

A little about the Misfits from wikipedia: The Misfits are an American rock band often recognized as the progenitors of the horror punk subgenre, blending punk rock and other musical influences with horror film themes and imagery. Each incarnation of the Misfits has made use of horror film and science fiction film-inspired themes and imagery, with makeup, clothing, artwork, and lyrics drawn from B movies and television serials, many from the 1960s and 1970s. Musically the band are often recognized as the progenitors of the horror punk subgenre and have drawn from punk rock, heavy metal, and 1950s rock and roll and rockabilly to inform their style. Rolling Stone describes them as "the archetypal horror-punk band of the late 1970s and early '80s", and they are considered icons in punk music and culture.Founded in 1977 in Lodi, New Jersey by singer and songwriter Glenn Danzig, the group had a fluctuating lineup during its first six years with Danzig and bassist Jerry Only as the only consistent members. During this time they released several EPs and singles and, with Only's brother Doyle as guitarist, the albums Walk Among Us (1982) and Earth A.D./Wolfs Blood (1983), both considered touchstones of the early-1980s hardcore punk movement. The Misfits disbanded in 1983 and Danzig went on to form Samhain and then Danzig. Several albums of reissued and previously unreleased material were issued after the group's dissolution, and their music became influential to punk rock, heavy metal, and alternative rock music of the late 1990s and early 2000s.
